Hearing Care Professionals include the below professions:
Audiological Scientist
Member of a multi-disciplinary team, usually hospital based, which is concerned
with identification and diagnosis of hearing impairment with the rehabilitation
of hearing impaired patients, both children and adults.
Audiological Technician
Audiology technicians work with other Ear, Nose and Throat professionals.
Their work includes the measurement of hearing and balance and rehabilitation
of those who have a hearing loss by fitting and advising on the effective use
of appropriate hearing aids.
Hearing Aid Audiologist (Dispenser)
Hearing Aid Audiologists or Dispensers are qualified to carry out audiometric
testing, otoscopic examination and case history investigation to enable appropriate
provision of a hearing aid. They are qualified to select, adjust and fit hearing
aids, specifying and preparing appropriate earmoulds and carrying out any necessary
acoustic modifications of the ear fitting.
Hearing Therapist
Hearing Therapists assess the rehabilitative needs of those suffering from
acquired deafness and provide help with communication using hearing aids, environmental
aids and the skills of speech-reading and auditory training. They provide support
and counseling for hearing impaired people and people suffering from tinnitus.
