Cochlea Dynamics Sound Processing:
GN ReSound looked to the healthy human ear to see how a hearing aid should respond to sounds in the environment. The result of this research and development is GN ReSound's patented Digital Cochlea Dynamics compression system. Canta 7's Cochlea Dynamics uses a series of overlapping digital filters that process sound in a manner that mimics the function of a healthy human cochlea. This provides the wearer with a clear sound quality. Our programming software gives the hearing healthcare professional the flexibility to fine tune the sound processing of the aids to meet the precise needs of the individual hearing aid user. The technology is so advanced that some models can be reconfigured to a different sound processing scheme. This provides the hearing aid user with a 2-in-1 hearing instrument.
Environmental Programs:
Most Canta 7 hearing instruments can be programmed with up to 4 environmental programs (all but the CIC). A telecoil is available on certain models. Programs are accessed by a convenient push button or slide switch. Your hearing healthcare professional will determine the number and type of programs most appropriate for you.
Noise Reduction:
Noise Reduction uses advanced digital technology to improve listening comfort and reduce fatigue in noisy environments such as resturants, social events and sporting events. GN ReSound's Noise Reduction technology reduces undesirable sounds between syllables of speech without degrading the speech signal. Only Canta 7 products offer three different degrees of Noise Reduction. Your hearing healthcare professional will determine which one is appropriate for you.
Spectral Enhancement:
Only Canta 7 instruments offer Spectral Enhancement technology. This technique can be employed to manipulate the spectral shape of sound entering the hearing aid. This allows the impaired ear to perceive sound more closely to that of a normal ear. Your hearing healthcare professional will determine whether this feature would be of benefit for you.
Digital Directional Technology:
Digital Directional Technology is used to amplify the sounds coming from in front of the hearing aid user while minimizing the sounds coming from other directions in the environment. The directionality in Canta 7 models is adaptive. Canta 7 aids with Adaptive Directionality utilize two microphones and digital signal processing. This feature makes sure the loudest noise source in the room is not amplified even as it moves around. Adaptive Directionality employes GN ReSound's patented Adaptive Microphone Matching system. This system monitors the performance of both microphones. It digitally matches them to ensure the directional performance is at an optimal level for the user.
Digital Feedback Suppression:
Many hearing aid users have high frequency hearing loss which effects the ability to hear consonant sounds in speech. Thus, without adequate high frequency amplification, the speech signal will be unclear. Unfortunately, providing adequate high frequency amplification often results in feedback. The Digital Feedback Suppression (DFS) in Canta 7 eliminates only the feedback without a reduction in high frequency amplification. The DFS system in the Canta 7 is calibrated specifically to your ear and is able to adapt to changes in the environment for optimal performance.
