Q: I use a headset at work and am experiencing feedback when wearing my hearing instruments. How can this be prevented?

There are a few options for hearing instrument use with headsets. Unfortunately, often the hearing instruments feedback because the device is covered by the headset earpiece. If it is not necessary to wear the headset, you could use the telecoil setting on your hearing instrument (if available) while using the telephone handset instead of the headset. We also suggest removing the hearing instruments and using an amplified telephone for the additional volume required to use the telephone successfully. Furthermore, we recommend returning to your hearing healthcare professional to have your hearing instruments adjusted for optimal use with the telephone.
